But…there are a few things you need to know before you search the dates and register for the GMAT.

5 Things to Know About the GMAT Exam Dates 2022

1. You can take the GMAT at home online.

If you’ve got great internet and a chill environment, you should consider taking the GMAT online at home. Taking the test at home means you can take it at just about any time that works with your schedule…even overnight. So taking the GMAT online means you have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to take the test.

2. Your GMAT score is good for 5 years.

Plan well in advance and you’ll score well! Since your GMAT score is good for 5 years, you should prepare for and take the GMAT whenever you are at a point in your life when you have more time (Ramadan anyone?). Some of our most successful students take the GMAT fresh out of university or after a work training/short course because they are still in study mode.

The worst time to take the GMAT is when you are under pressure professionally and personally. These high-stress situations rarely make for great scores.

3. Not every university requires the GMAT.

High undergraduate GPA? Willing to take a custom admissions test? You may not need to take the GMAT.

If you have any idea of the MBA programs you want to apply to, be sure to check their requirements. Many universities in the US now provide GMAT waivers for students who graduated GPAs higher than 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate. Some universities in Europe, including Manchester, IE, and Esade, have their own admissions tests that you can take instead of the GMAT.

Put one or two of these universities on your list of MBA programs to increase your odds of getting in.

4. Plan to prepare for 2 to 4 months.

GMAT preparation takes time! We recommend that students who do GMAT private tutoring with us take 3 months. This length of time gives students enough time to:

  • Take 1 lesson a week
  • Finish all homework as the lessons progress
  • Do a complete concept review
  • Become used to GMAT-style questions
  • Take lots of practice tests

We’ve all heard the legend of the person who didn’t study, walked into the test, and score 700+ on the GMAT. We work with a lot of students and this almost never happens.

High performers stack the odds in their favor. Prepare for the GMAT properly and you’ll be happy with your score.

5. Test centers do get booked.

We have found that October through December is the busiest time for GMAT test takers in Dubai. Round 1 deadlines are in October and round 2 deadlines tend to be in December/January. Therefore, many people want to take the exam during this time.

There are also only two GMAT test centers in Dubai. If you can’t find a time you want in the test center, consider taking the GMAT online at home.

Should I take the GMAT online or at the test center?

We prefer the test center experience because there are fewer distractions and you know the tech works. You can check the MBA.com website for two videos that explain the differences in the experience.

If you need an unofficial score to send to universities immediately, you should take the exam in the TEST CENTER. As soon as you finish the test, the center will print and stamp an unofficial score report that can immediately be uploaded with your application. Otherwise, you have to wait 7 to 20 days for a score.

How long do I have to wait before I take the GMAT again?
